Ours is a story of two hard working ladies, friends for over 15 years and owner operators of McDonalds (Keryn) and KFC (Amie) stores in Sydney. Constantly looking to hire and train new young people for their businesses, they were finding it difficult to ‘read through’ the hundreds of written resumes they received each year. Resumes that were often written by parents or copied off the internet that did not reflect the amazing young people they were hiring.
Over a long breakfast at their local growers market, they decided that there was an opportunity to solve this problem. They agreed: it had to be an app because of the demographic, and, it had to involve images and videos, because this was the universal language of young people today. Images are authentic, cannot be fabricated, can be endorsed and show a timeline of a young persons life. A live digital profile that acts like a blockchain of their skills and achievements!
Fast forward to 2021 and Resupix was born. Having never built an app before and regularly having trouble remembering logins and passwords, the app was finally launched to over 1000 High School students in NSW. Keryn and Amie did further testing of the app in their own stores to confirm whether the app was a tool that young people would use….and it was! The app is now in both the App and Google stores and they now have intentions to grow a global userbase and revolutionise the traditional outdated resume.
To add to their story, after Covid, they have seen that there has been an extra ordinary need for employers to find and connect with young people, and that has now led them to develop Pixujob. A website focused on helping other employers find young people and more importantly, teaching employers how using images and videos can showcase their own businesses to future employees – and making the best hire they may ever make!
